About the 6-7pm Workshop:
Jess Stokes is an experienced start-up operator and investor with deep expertise in PK-12 edtech. She has led entrepreneurship education programs around the world and is launching a company (wonder-academy.com) to bring business education to high school girls.
While in the Wharton MBA program, Jess worked in a variety of finance roles including investment banking, private equity and venture capital. She is currently a scout for Reach Capital Partners, and she also angel invests in companies led by female founders.
This session will cover current investing trends, pros and cons of raising venture capital, fundraising stages, alternatives to VC, and key components of an investor pitch deck.

In this workshop, Deborah will guide prospective self-published authors through the process of hiring and working with an illustrator. Much of what she will cover in this workshop will also apply to hiring and working with other creative contractors like graphic designers, photographers, and more.
This Workshop Will Cover:
-the stages of project completion and when to hire an illustrator/creative contractor -signing a contract -the steps an illustrator goes through from idea to finished art -and what the author/client's ideal role is in the process
Plus, answering as many questions you might have as time will allow!
Deborah Tyson has been illustrating books for self-published authors since 2019. Her latest book was published in July by Terrill Haigler and has received praise from Billy Penn and Philly Voice.
